In a web-based, quick-to-decide world, your profile images have just three seconds to convey who you really are. Studies have shown that micro-expressions only last for about 1/3 of a second. That's time enough for our shutter to open about 4-5 times. Each of those "looks" will say something different to each and every person who sees them. Sadly, that's also about how long it takes for a potential client to decide if "you're the one" for the service that they seek.
Each of us bring our own frame-of-reference to any given expression. Expecting the same expression, scene or "Look" to appeal to everyone is impossible. Once such client for us is a Realtor by most hours, and a murder-mystery novelist in her spare time. One look conveys trust to help you find your dream home, the other a sense-of-intrigue, fitting for a mega-best-selling author.
One look might appeal to your C-level clients, while another might attract a more casual audience. One look might work great on a dating page, while another is clearly business.
