TWO TOOLS TO SAVE YOUR FILES, TIME & MONEY
Preserving your history is important to me for multiple reasons. The importance of visual history is top of the list, but one thing most people don’t know is how costly it can be in time to retrieve lost files from computer issues or lack of a system to organize your photos.
By nature we’re too anxious to think about where we stored photos once downloaded. I get several of these calls each year - “my computer crashed…” “…hard drive failed…” “…don’t know where I saved them…” There is a price on retrieving and sending them to you a second time (email/phone, invoice for my retrieval, unarchive, verify content, verify payment, upload to file transfer software, resend files.)

1 - WHERE TO STORE:
If you are not already using a cloud storage tool, or pushed by security issues, I HIGHLY recommend SYNC.COM.
It continues to be more secure and less expensive than Dropbox, and easier to send & share files than Google Drive. I’ve used all of them for several years but for photo storage (as well as an encrypted backup seen below with BackBlaze) I prefer the simplicity and price of Sync.
2 - HOW TO ORGANIZE (to find them quickly)
Duplicate a copy of that download for safe keeping on a separate drive or on your organized, cloud-based back-up service like Sync.com, Google Drive, Microsoft etc... (Do not share or distribute - this is a gift for our clients.) Now you have a working copy to customize. If you mess something up, you can always start again with a clean set from your backup.
3 - We don’t buy insurance so that we can have accidents. We do it “just in case…”. This is why I say - BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER. I had my main computer AND a back-up drive fail me at once. I spent hundreds for a forensic retrieval of vital client images.

BIG POINTER TO MAXIMIZE IT... Connect as many external drives to the one computer you add the service to, and you'll get duplicates of those duplicates in yet another safe place. (We had our own horror story of both a computer and it's back-up drive failing at once).
