Done dabbling?.. I can help!
I entered my mentor Lou VerBaere’s thriving portrait studio, oblivious that I’d ever be doing portraits. I didn’t know, what I didn’t know.
I had a knack for nature photography, but zero interest in shooting people. My four-corners-of-perspective, impressed my friends, family and peers, but that was just compostion. (and dedication to rising long before the sun).
I knew the trifecta for a great exposure (ISO, S & A, all to stay on M) but having never competed, had no idea what more I could be doing to stand out with professional peers.
I just wanted Mr. VerBaere to critique my scenic/landscape photography. (currently just accompanying my personal blog, but more to come with that later) Lou saw something more in my work, and convinced me that I could earn a living from my scenics, simply by adding people to them. Two decades later…
If you’ve ever tried tugging on the shirts of full-time professionals, you likely share my experience of being snubbed. While I’ve never forgotten that experience, I now understand why. (Defined in post - Are You a Professional Photographer?)
My belief is, that there’s enough to go around, and that what I will share with you will come back to you 10-fold, in a short amount of time in time-savings alone.
I am an ethical professional, and expect that you won’t use my knowledge to set up shop across the street. Karma is a bitch when we misuse it. On the other hand, my studio sales INCREASED, in perfect alignment with the rate of sharing this information (before I ever charged to teach it).
I am first, a giver. I love to share, and operate at my BEST when I provide win/win/win scenarios. Second, I am a systems junkie, always aware of time-sucking repeat tasks that plague this craft. I no longer shoot from the hip at pricing what I do. If it doesn’t have a surviving wage associated with it, I let it go for someone else that might be more suited for such a project. (Givers Gain philosophy)
You win, I win, and most importantly, your friends will still be your clients win. (if just starting out, you want your friends, to still be your friends after you provide them “cheap” photography services.
I can’t guarantee that 2-4 four hours will give you everything that you’ll ever need, but I GUARANTEE to deliver more than your money’s worth.
HERE’S WHAT WE’LL COVER:
• How to attract the right customers:
• How to price for your ability and future ability.
• Organize for efficiency.
• Posing, lighting and composing for appeal.
IMPORTANT: This is an advanced course that assumes you already know how to use your gear and lighting. There are countless resources online for those rudiments. This is about what to do with it to improve your results.
Take your pick between 90 minutes of 1:1 Training, or a 4-hour class with a maximum of 10 attendees. (when available)
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE:
1 - Search “Brian Geraths” (rhymes with Fryin Carrots - HA). If you don’t think I’ve got the goods to deliver what you’re looking for, you’ve just saved a few bucks.
2 - Decide how much you’d like to earn each year (after taxes). You won’t need to reveal, but have that number with you for the class.
3 - Create an ideal vacation schedule for a calendar year.
4 - Master the Exposure Trifecta - (ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture) This should be second-nature and will not be covered. You will get much more out of the class once this is committed to memory.
5 - Block off a full day after this course, within a week, to apply your most urgent takeaways.
