YES I GO OUTSIDE! Not sure if it’s my pale skin or fear that the word “Studio” means I don’t, but I’m asked that often enough to state it wherever possible. 60% of my sessions are offsite, mostly with professional lighting (looks natural, but no “racoon eyes” common with “natural-only” shooters.

Cameraphobe? You’re not alone. My mutual dislike and empathy are key to my success at putting people at ease. – Brian

AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Brian Geraths is a Portland, Oregon–based professional photographer with a global lens and a local touch. For nearly three decades, Studio B Photography & Gallery has delivered headshots, executive portraits, commercial marketing imagery, and fine-art photography to clients across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Brian’s work spans nine countries and multiple U.S. states, ranging from executive branding and corporate photography to humanitarian storytelling and scenic landscapes. He is a two-time Kodak Gallery Award recipient and winner of the Fuji Masterpiece Award, distinctions recognizing technical precision, composition, and print excellence within the professional photography industry.

Yet recognition has never been the primary driver.

Known for a calm and intuitive presence, Brian helps professionals, high school seniors, and art collectors feel natural and confident in front of the camera. His approach emphasizes authenticity, tonal restraint, and imagery designed to endure. Clients throughout Portland, Lake Oswego, Tigard, and beyond trust Studio B for work that balances polish with personality.

Whether creating studio headshots, on-location corporate portraits, personal branding sessions, family imagery, or limited-edition fine-art prints, Brian produces visuals with purpose.

A Personal Note on Competition & Craft

From 1997 to 2002, Brian entered professional competitions, consistently earning industry awards and recognition. While the validation was meaningful, he ultimately chose to step away from competitive circuits to focus more deeply on creative independence and long-term artistic growth.

The shift was intentional. Craft matured. Vision clarified. The work became less about comparison and more about contribution.

Influences & Mentors

Brian has had the opportunity to learn from and photograph individuals who have shaped his perspective on leadership, storytelling, and personal growth.

Brian with my favorite teacher Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Dr. Wayne Dyer – Teacher and influence whose philosophy of intention and personal responsibility continues to inform both Brian’s writing and artistic work.

Tony Robbins – Leadership mentor known for transformational live events, whose presence and command of energy left a lasting impression on Brian’s understanding of human expression and confidence.

Graham Salisbury – Writing mentor, studio colleague, and close friend whose dedication to craft reinforces the value of disciplined storytelling across mediums.

These experiences did not create the work, but they strengthened the perspective behind it.

At the time I was hired to shoot many of these people, I gained a tremendous level of respect for who they are beyond their stage personas. Many of them evolved into first-hand accounts from behind-the-scenes, revealing that they are genuinely who they present.

I used to shoot the content assigned, as well as the slide decks at key moments to review and/or research later - making my seat the absolute best in the house.

It was from my position behind the lens and at my editing station where my own life began to transform. Practicing these principles is an on-going, lifelong adventure.

I’m not one to get star-gazed, but being this close to Tony Robbins is no less as energetic as it was to spend multiple days with him in New York at his “Unleash the Power Within” conference. Yes, I did the fire walk and felt ready for a second pass afterward.

My writing mentor-turned great friend and studio mate Graham Salisbury. Shortly after we attended Brendon Burchard’s High Performance Academy in San Jose CA, we did this writing workshop…

I entered professional competitions from ‘97 - ‘02, just to make sure that my work was worthy of my prices. As a student of Dr. Wayne Dyer, I became more interested in the goal of Self-actualization, than physical accolades.
