Feeling Weird About Being Photographed? You’re Not Alone.
Hi, I’m Brian, and if you’re uncomfortable about the idea of having your photos taken, let me tell you something upfront… almost nobody walks in excited about being in front of a camera.
Some people grab their outfits weeks ahead and can’t wait.
Most people?.. They’re just hoping they don’t look awkward.
If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
A quick promise before we talk photos.
I’ve been doing senior portraits for many years, and the biggest thing I’ve learned is this:
everyone relaxes once they realize they don’t have to know what to do. That’s my job.
You don’t need to know how to pose, you don’t need model experience, and you definitely don’t need to pretend you’re comfortable if you’re not. I guide you through the whole thing so the photos feel like you, not a version of you trying too hard.
If being stared at by a camera feels weird… same.
Believe it or not, I used to be terrified of the lens myself.
It took me years to get comfortable, which is probably why I’m so tuned in when someone else feels that way.
So if you’re thinking:
“I get awkward when someone tells me to smile.”
“I never like photos of myself.”
“I have no idea what to do with my hands.”
“Please don’t make this a big production.”
…I hear you. And I build your session around helping you settle in, breathe, and be yourself. A real expression always beats a forced one, and I’ll help you find the one that feels natural.
What your session will actually feel like.
When you scroll through the options on my site, you’ll see studio sessions, outdoor sessions, and lifestyle setups based on your interests. Whether you want something simple and classic or photos of you doing the things you love, the process is easy:
I walk you through everything step-by-step.
We build momentum so your confidence grows without you noticing.
You’ll have plenty of images to choose from … variety is a big part of my style.
You don’t leave wishing you had “just one more” option.
Bottom line:
If you’re nervous, awkward, camera-shy, or just unsure how this all works, you won’t be the first, and you won’t be stuck feeling that way during your session.
My job is to help you relax into the version of yourself your friends and family see every day.
That’s the person we want in your portraits.
And I’m here to make sure we get exactly that.
This video is addressed to my headshots clients, but jump ahead to about the 2 minute mark if you’re camera-shy or perhaps even a tad phobic…
