PREVIEWS vs. FINAL IMAGES
In most cases, the images you’re previewing have only been partially edited.
1 - They have been culled down by removing the obvious blinks, half-blinks or redundancies - leaving only those that you may want to consider.
2 - A second pass is made at them to remove any redundancies per-pose. Because we can see them MUCH closer than you, we remove any less favorable micro-expressions that you would not be able to see on the average computer screen. (if in doubt, I leave them in for you to be more selective)
3 - Any image with the same file number, but includes a “-2” or more, is the same image cropped or styled differently. Often times people will choose both for different poses so that you can use for different purposes. If you order one of each, they will both/all be exported at the full size stated when you order. If you crop on your own, your cropped file size will be smaller - reducing your print size - If you want both/all versions of the same image, you can order one of each to guarantee you’ve got a larger working copy.
4 - Images that you order will be retouched before delivery. There is no charge for these retouching services:
Blemish removal (acne, scratches, rashes etc)
Dark line removal - If I didn’t mention during your session, lighting angles that compliment bone structure also increase shadows in otherwise-smaller creases from smile lines, neck creases etc. It is basic retouching for us to reduce those to a more normal level (too much can “pancake” them, looking obvious and fake - not my style unless requested. If it does not look real, it will be reversed to prevent you looking like an AI version of yourself.) OUR WORK IS HUMAN/AUTHENTIC - NOT ARTIFICIAL. : ^)
SESSION VIEWING TIPS
1 - If you’re tech-savvy - mirror your computer to your Smart TV - the images may be contrasty, colors may not be as accurate - but you can see them much larger.
2 - While on a larger screen - measure the edge-to-edge image size that you see. This helps for you to decide on wall portrait sizes. 24x30 ma sound large, until you consider how small your head(s) may be in a more scenic image. We’ve heard many variations of “I wish I had ordered larger, it sounded big until I put it over my couch."
3 - Change your browser’s window size to larger/smaller for perspective on head size. For example, on a 70” (diagonal size) monitor, you can view up to a 24x36” image.
4 - Note the head sizes. Ordering a small print of a scenic image (or larger group) can reduce the head sizes to smaller than you might prefer. - That’s just worth mentioning twice, paraphrased to avoid oversight.
In-person sales is very costly in time, which is why someone is usually there grilling you to invest more. I am not that person, but will answer ANY questions you have before you place your order at b@studiobpdx.com
You can also book a 10 min phone chat if that is easier for you.
5 - If you have questions about wall portrait sizes, THIS IS VERY HELPFUL.
Take a photo of the wall where you would like to hang your photo. (As straight on/distortion free as possible) and email that photo to me. b@studiobpdx.com
If you have a piece of furniture or any other object that is measurable in the photo, that helps me for perspective. SAMPLE: The existing piece of art is 48” wide
I have software that can translate that into a pretty accurate view of your portrait (tell me what image number) hanging on that wall.
Just don’t pinch outward on your smartphone (to make it wider angle) - this will distort the dimensions, making it harder to simulate.
