About the Photographer

In high school, I ran out of excuses to geek-out in the darkroom. I took every level of photography, journalism, yearbook, and even TA’d the class as an excuse to access the darkroom. I ran out of options by my senior year of HS, so I went to my Art teacher with an idea.

There was a large janitor’s closet in his classroom, with stainless steel sinks and enough countertop for my darkroom equipment. He supported my suggestion enough to march me up to the school principal’s office with the idea of weaving this one photo student into his art curriculum.

Already dubbed “Joe-photo” by classmates, he knew I’d make great use of the time and space. (read more HERE if curious…)
